Pattern Plate: Design - Guided Workshop (2-day)
Create absolutely incredible patterns in this dynamic 2-day comprehensive glass fusing workshop! Students will learn the pattern bar process from start to finish. Experiment with a "precision" pattern bar technique in this class, using a grid template to consciously design and layer your glass to create intentional, repeating patterns with stunning symmetry. We are obsessed with these results!
On day 1, students will use a custom grid to map out, cut, and stack their sheet glass inside a dammed kiln setup to hold its exact shape. Day 2, students will learn coldworking skills to slice the block, "butterfly" the pieces open to reveal their hidden repeating design, and learn proper assembly for the final plate firing. Finished Pattern Bar: Design Plate projects are 7"x12" and finished with custom sandblasting and a beautiful fire-polished slump.
Guided Workshops are recommended for ages 16+
